Police charge man after brawl at Walgett

A man has been charged following a brawl involving up to 70 people in the state's north.

About 2.45am yesterday (Sunday 28 February 2021), officers attached to Central North Police District responded to reports of a brawl on Peel Street, Walgett.

As police arrived, an 18-year-old man assault a second man.

A taser was deployed to effect the man's arrest and he was taken to Walgett Police Station where he was charged with affray, and custody of knife in public place.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Walgett Local Court on Tuesday 23 March 2021.
