Police charge man after Braybrook warrant

Police have arrested and charged a man following an alleged firearms incident in Braybrook last month.

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives, with assistance from the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a warrant on Ashley Street in Braybrook about 9am this morning.

The warrant was executed as part of an ongoing false imprisonment and firearms investigation.

The alleged incident occurred at an address in Braybrook about 9pm on Thursday, 10 February, where a 58-year-old man was held against his will and threatened with a firearm.

He managed to escape without injury.

A 30-year-old Braybrook man has been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, ammunition without licence, possession of cannabis, committing an indictable offence while on bail and handling stolen goods.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court this evening.
