Police charge man after Brunswick sexual assault

Sexual Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following the sexual assault of a teenage girl last week.

A 27-year-old Elsternwick man was arrested near his home address yesterday afternoon and subsequently interviewed by police.

He has been charged with a range of offences including attempted rape, sexual assault, assault with intent to commit a sexual offence, and false imprisonment.

The man was remanded in custody overnight and will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

The charges follow an alleged incident on Sunday, 7 February on Ewing Street, Brunswick after the girl was picked up by what she believed to be a rideshare vehicle.
