A man has been charged following an investigation into several burnouts in the state's Riverina Region.
On Tuesday 3 August 2021, the driver of a Ford Falcon allegedly conducted a burnout on Olympic Highway, Wagga Wagga, before losing control and travelling onto the incorrect side of the highway towards oncoming traffic.
On Sunday 15 August 2021, the same driver allegedly conducted further burnouts at a private property on Copland Street, Wagga Wagga.
The matters were reported to officers from the Riverina Highway Patrol's Strike Force Puma, who commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, police attended a home at Wagga Wagga yesterday (Thursday 19 August 2021), and spoke to an 18-year-old man.
The man was issued a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) for driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, filming vehicle operated contrary subsection (1), entering inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse and not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 - COVID-19.
He is due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 8 September 2021.
Strike Force Puma was formed 2018 to target drivers with a history of licence offences and a repeated history of drink and drug driving offences, and drivers with extreme and erratic behaviours.
