A man has been charged as part of an investigation into a carjacking in Bathurst over the weekend.
About 10.35am yesterday (Sunday 27 April 2025), a 44-year-old man parked his ute in the lower-level carpark of Bathurst City Centre on Howick Street, Bathurst, when he was approached from behind by a man, who punched him several times in the head.
The man then jumped in the vehicle and drove off.
The 44-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and then taken to Bathurst Base Hospital for a suspected dislocated shoulder, cuts, and abrasions.
Police from Chifley Police District attended and established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
About 6pm yesterday (Sunday 27 April 2025), the vehicle was located and seized for forensic examination.
Following inquiries, a 24-year-old man was arrested at a home on Bannerman Crescent, Kelso, about 11.20pm yesterday.
He was taken to Bathurst Police station, where he was charged with aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, and assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court today (Monday 28 April 2025).
