Police charge man after chemist robbery - Burwood

A man will appear in court today after allegedly producing a firearm during the robbery of a chemist in Burwood yesterday.

About 5.45pm (Sunday 5 April 2020), a man entered a chemist on Burwood Road armed with an imitation pistol. He approached the counter and threatened staff while demanding money.

The man took a sum of cash and fled the store.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command were called and established a crime scene. CCTV was able to track the man to Redfern where he was arrested. Police will allege a search of the area nearby located a sum of cash and other items allegedly linked to the offence.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon.

He was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court today (Monday 6 April 2020).
