Police charge man after child approaches at Lightning Ridge

A man has been charged following two alleged child approaches in the state's north west this week.

Police will allege in court that about 5pm on Monday (3 August 2020), a man made sexual advances towards a teenage girl at a business on Opal Street, Lightning Ridge.

The man was removed from the store by management.

Shortly after 8am on Tuesday (4 August 2020), the same girl was walking to school when it is alleged she was approached a second time by the same man on Opal Street.

The incidents were reported to officers attached to Central North Police District who commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the approaches.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 53-year-old man on Harlequin Street, Lightning Ridge, about 10am yesterday (Wednesday 5 August 2020).

He was taken to Lightning Ridge Police Station where he was charged with intentional incite child >10 and

The man was bail refused to appear before Walgett Local Court today (Thursday 6 August 2020).
