Police charge man after church burglaries

Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a series of burglaries across Melbourne this month.

It's alleged the burglaries took place at places of worship in Altona North, St Albans, Flemington, Templestowe, Mont Albert, Balwyn North, Keilor East, Box Hill and South Melbourne between 4-18 April

Police executed warrants in Caroline Springs and Maidstone yesterday and today, seizing money and property alleged to have been stolen during the burglaries.

A 45-year-old Caroline Springs man was arrested today in Maidstone and has been charged with 11 counts of burglary, 12 counts of theft, robbery and criminal damage.

It is expected further charges will be laid.

The man has been remanded in custody to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 23 April.
