Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following the alleged fatal assault of a woman in Creswick last night.
The 79-year-old woman was located at a property on Melbourne Road shortly after 10pm with life threatening injuries.
She was taken to hospital but died in hospital this morning as a result of her injuries.
An 83-year-old Creswick man has been charged with one count of murder and has been remanded in custody.
