Police Charge Man After Cyclist Killed In Dunkeld

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following the death of a cyclist in Dunkeld last year.

It is alleged the cyclist was holding onto the side of a Toyota Landcruiser whilst being towed at the intersection of Wills and Sterling streets shortly before 10.30pm on 14 September.

The rider lost control and fell onto the road before being struck by the Toyota.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services and passersby to revive the 21-year-old female cyclist, she died at the scene.

The driver of the Landcruiser sustained minor injuries.

The 33-year-old Dunkeld man has since been charged with culpable driving causing death, exceed the prescribed concentration of alcohol, dangerous driving, and other related traffic offences.

He was bailed to appear before Hamilton Magistrates' Court on 8 April.
