Police charge man after death of Kobie Parfitt

Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad have charged a man following the death of Ballarat woman Kobie Parfitt.

A 31-year-old Wendouree man was arrested around 5.45pm last night in Kinglake with assistance from members of the Critical Incident Response Team.

He has been charged with one count of murder and will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

Police located human remains in a mine shaft in Snake Valley on 22 December while they were searching the area as part of the investigation Kobie's disappearance.

The remains are still yet to be formally identified.

A 31-year-old Mount Clear woman was spoken to on 23 December, however she was released without charge.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Kobie, 43, was last seen alive at a property on Hickman Street on 28 April.
