Police charge man after Delacombe fatal hit-run

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have arrested and charged a man following a fatal hit-run collision in Delacombe last Thursday.

The 39-year-old Alfredton man was arrested in Ballarat East last night and subsequently charged with culpable driving causing death, fail to stop and fail to render assistance.

He was held overnight to appear before Ballarat Magistrates' Court this morning.

Following the arrest, detectives from MCIU and Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a property in Lacys Road, Ross Creek.

Detectives located and seized a silver Mitsubishi sedan, firearms and stolen property.

The charges follow an incident on La Trobe Street where a cyclist was sadly located deceased about 5.40am on Thursday, 21 October.

Police will allege the victim, a 60-year-old Ballarat man, was fatally struck by a vehicle who failed to stop.
