Police Charge Man After Doveton Non-fatal Shooting

Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have this afternoon charged a man after a non-fatal shooting in Doveton yesterday.

A 39-year-old Keysborough man was arrested in a Cheltenham shopping centre shortly after 1pm today.

He was interviewed by police and subsequently charged with reckless conduct endanger life, discharge firearm at vehicle with reckless disregard for public safety, discharge firearm into vehicle and possess firearm when FPO applies.

The man will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.

The charges follow an incident where emergency services were called to reports of a man with a gunshot wound to his lower body on Paperbark Avenue around 2pm.

The 35-year-old man, who was located inside a Mazda sedan, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police believe the incident was targeted and that parties involved are known to each other.
