Police charge man after Epping Police Station incident

Police have charged a man following an incident outside Epping Police Station last night.

It is alleged the man approached the front entry of the High Street station in a gold Holden Commodore sedan about 9pm.

He allegedly mounted a footpath and pressed his car against two bollards before performing a burnout.

Police approached the man who then allegedly spat on an officer during his arrest.

He has been charged with seven offences, including; reckless conduct endangering serious injury, assault and resist an emergency worker, refusing a preliminary breath test, refusing a preliminary oral fluid test, careless driving, drive in a manner dangerous and drive motor vehicle causing loss of traction.

The 54-year-old St Helena man had his vehicle impounded for 30 days.

He will be presented before the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court later today.
