Police Charge Man After Essendon North Collision

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a man after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Essendon North yesterday afternoon.

It is believed a man was crossing Mount Alexander Road when he was allegedly hit by a 4WD just after 1.30pm.

The pedestrian, an 84-year-old Essendon man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening-injuries.

The driver of the 4WD, a 47-year-old Keilor Park man, was arrested at the scene.

He was charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury and unlicensed driving.

He was bailed to the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 24 June
