Police charge man after evade in northern and southern suburbs

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after he allegedly evaded police in a stolen vehicle this morning.

The 30-year-old Sunbury man has been charged with over 11 offences including reckless conduct endanger serious injury, fail to stop vehicle of police request, speed dangerous and prohibited person possess imitation firearm.

The charges come after police attempted to intercept the white Mitsubishi Triton in Sunbury about 1.45am but the driver sped away.

Police will allege the man driving the vehicle, reached speeds of up to 160km/h at times as he drove through the northern and southern suburbs as the police Air Wing monitored the vehicle.

The man was subsequently arrested about 4am in Caulfield East.

He has been remanded to next face Broadmeadows Magistrate's Court on 13 August.
