Police charge man after fatal collision in Drouin West

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Drouin West last year.

It is believed a Toyota Hilux utility was travelling west along Old Sale Road, near Stock Road, when it collided with a cyclist travelling in the same direction on 13 July around 12pm.

The cyclist, a 79-year-old Drouin woman, sadly died at the scene.

The driver was not injured and stopped at the scene.

The 21-year-old Croydon man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, careless driving, fail to drive a sufficient distance from a cyclist, breach licence condition, and failing to display P-plates.

He was bailed to appear at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court on 9 February.
