Police charge man after fatal crash in Burwood

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a fatal crash in Burwood last week.

A 16-year-old male passenger from Reservoir died when an allegedly stolen vehicle crashed into a pole on the Burwood Highway about 1.20am on 21 July.

The driver allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.

A 22-year-old Reservoir man handed himself into police and was taken to hospital on 25 July.

He has today been charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, and failure to stop and render assistance.

The man will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court this afternoon.
