Police Charge Man After Fatal Crash - North Ryde

A man will face court following a fatal crash earlier this week in North Ryde.

About 1am on (Monday 1 December 2025), emergency services responded to reports of a crash between a red Mitsubishi sedan and a white truck in the east bound lanes of Lane Cove Road, North Ryde.

The passenger in the car – a 38-year-old man - died prior to the arrival of emergency services.

The driver – a 45-year-old man - and another passenger – a 37-year-old woman - in the sedan were trapped in the vehicle until they were released by Fire and Rescue NSW.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated both the man and woman at the scene before they were taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The truck driver – a 61-year-old man – was uninjured. He was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and the Crash Investigation Unit was in attendance.

Following inquiries, about 4pm today (Thursday 4 December 2025), officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command with the assistance of Tuggerah Lakes Police District, arrested a 45-year-old man in Toukley, Central Coast.

He was taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with:

  • Agg dangerous driving occasioning death- speed >45 over limit,
  • Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm >45 km/h over limit,
  • Dangerous driving occasioning death-drive speed dangerous,
  • Dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous,
  • Negligent driving occasioning death,
  • Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive speed dangerous,
  • Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangererous,
  • Negligent driving occasions grievous bodily harm,
  • Class A motor vehicle exceed speed > 45 km/h,
  • Drive behind other vehicle too closely to stop, and
  • Not give particulars to police

His license was suspended and he was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 6 on Friday 5 December 2025
