Police charge man after filming in female toilets - Darlinghurst

A French National will re-appear at court today after being charged over the alleged filming of a woman in the toilets of a bar at the weekend.

About 1am on Saturday (27 April 2019), a woman was in a cubicle of the female toilets at a licensed bar on Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, when she noticed a mobile phone, which appeared to be recording, appear under the dividing wall.

The woman called out and knocked on the wall before looking over the wall and saw a man holding a mobile phone.

The incident was reported to hotel security, who contacted police.

Officers from Surry Hills Local Area Command arrived a short time later and arrested the man, who had been detained by security attempting to flee the location.

During a search of the man, police located a mobile phone and cannabis.

The man, who is a French National, was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with intentionally record intimate image without consent and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday, where he was granted conditional bail to re-appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Tuesday 30 April 2019).
