Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a pursuit in Geelong overnight.
Officers spotted an allegedly stolen grey Holden wagon in Mandalay Avenue in Armstrong Creek about 12.45am.
They attempted to intercept the vehicle, but it sped off.
Police spotted the Holden on Burvillies Road a short time later, before it allegedly rammed a stationary police vehicle of Compass Way.
Fortunately, the officers were not seriously injured.
The Holden drove through a nearby paddock and was pursued by police through Geelong West, Corio and Geelong.
Stop sticks were successfully deployed and the Holden came to a stop on Anglesea Road in Waurn Ponds.
The driver was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
The 21-year-old Torquay man was charged with:
- aggravated reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving (x2)
- dangerous driving while pursued by police
- theft of motor vehicle
- reckless conduct endangering life
- drive vehicle whilst exceeding prescribed concentration of drugs
- fail oral fluid test
- drive whilst disqualified
- fail to stop on police direction
He was remanded to appear at Geelong Magistrates' Court on 15 July.
