Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged hit-run in Ardeer last night.
Police believe the female victim was allegedly struck by a black Holden Commodore on Ballarat Road before her body was located about 7.40pm.
The victim is yet to be formally identified.
A 31-year-old Cairnlea man came forward to police early this morning.
He has been charged with fail to render assistance in a fatal collision and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court shortly,
