A man has been charged following an alleged home invasion in Sydney's west yesterday.
About 10am yesterday (Friday 20 February 2026), officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command responded to reports of an alleged aggravated break and enter at The Horsley Drive, Smithfield.
Police were told the occupants of the house - a 48-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman - were at home when three men, one armed with a shortened firearm, allegedly broke into the premises and threatened the pair.
The man was not injured and the woman received minor injuries when she was struck in the arm with an object.
The men allegedly stole the keys to the man's Audi sedan and left the house.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
About 5.30pm yesterday (Friday 20 February 2026), police located the Audi in the underground carpark of a unit complex in Northumberland Street, Liverpool.
The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
A short time later, officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command located and arrested a 38-year-old man, who was occupying a vehicle on South Liverpool Road, Busby.
With the assistance of Liverpool City Police Area Command and specialist police, officers then carried out a search of a nearby house, allegedly locating and seizing ammunition and drugs.
The man was taken to Cabramatta Police Station where he was charged with:
- Specially aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence
- In company assault with intent rob while armed dangerous weapon
- Use etc offensive weapon in company with intent indictable offence
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
- Acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition
- Supply prohibited drug, and
- Two counts of possess prohibited drug.
He was bail refused to appear at Local Bail Division - Court 6 today (Saturday 21 February 2026).
