Police charge man after investigation into assault at Cobar

A man has been charged after a serious incident in the state's west on Monday.

About 11.30am (Monday 29 March 2021) a 36-year-old man attended Cobar Police Station to report an alleged assault.

Officers from Central North Police District were told the 36-year-old man had been punched in the face and body multiple times by another man outside a business on Marshall Street, Cobar.

The man then fled the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at Cobar Police Station for serious facial injuries, before he was taken to Cobar Hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives attached to Central North Police District commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police attended a licensed premise on Barrier Highway, Cobar, about 1.45pm yesterday (Monday 29 March 2021).

A 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Cobar Police Station, where he was charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Cobar Local Court on Wednesday 24 April 2021.
