Police charge man after investigation into assault - Lower Blue Mountains

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged assault in the Lower Blue Mountains earlier this year.

About 10.30pm on Saturday 29 May 2021, officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command were called to a home on Grahame Street, Blaxland, following reports a man had been assaulted.

Officers found a 33-year-old man with serious facial injuries.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, before being taken to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition.

The man later underwent surgery for a broken jaw.

Following his release from hospital, the man attended Springwood Police Station about 10am on Friday 4 June 2021.

Police were been told the man was walking on Murphy Street, Blaxland, about 10.30pm on Saturday 29 May 2021, when he was approached by a group of men, and a verbal argument took place.

He was then allegedly punched in the face by one of the men, before he ran to a home on Grahame Street for assistance.

Following extensive investigations, police attended a home on Summit Street, Mount Riverview, yesterday (Friday 23 July 2021) and arrested a 20-year-old man.

He was taken to Springwood Police Station, where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man was given strict conditional bail to appear at Penrith Local Court on Thursday 19 August 2021.
