Police charge man after Lang Lang arrest

Police have charged a man after a vehicle with stolen registration plates was tracked at excessive speeds before being stopped in Lang Lang this morning.

Officers allegedly attempted to intercept the black Hyundai Excell on Soldiers Road in Beaconsfield about 2am this morning before it sped away.

The Air Wing tracked the car which reached alleged speeds of up to 170km/h along the South Gippsland Highway before stop sticks were successfully deployed at Rupert Road in Lang Lang.

The driver attempted to flee on foot but was arrested nearby a short time later.

Officers from Dandenong Frontline Tactical Unit charged the 26-year-old man with the following charges:

• Reckless Conduct Endanger Life

• Reckless Conduct Endanger Serious Injury

• Drive at a Speed Dangerous

• Exceeding the Speed-limit

• Careless Driving

• Drive Whilst Disqualified

• Learner Driver Drive Vehicle Without Experienced Driver

• Use Unregistered Motor Vehicle

• Fraudulently Use a Registration Plate

• Handle Stolen Goods

• Possess Cannabis

• Going Equipped to Steal

• Contravene Stay at Home Directions

The Sunshine man is expected to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates' court later today.
