Police charge man after Langwarrin aggravated burglary

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an aggravated burglary in Langwarrin on 26 August.

It's alleged a resident of Elm Grove heard someone outside his property about 3am.

The resident went to investigate and found a man attempting to steal tools from his utility which was parked in the driveway.

The man confronted the offender and a struggle ensued before the victim was chased back into his property and assaulted with a sledgehammer.

The 33-year-old man from Frankston who was arrested at the scene has been charged with aggravated burglary, intent to assault, recklessly cause injury, attempted theft, resist arrest, criminal damage, commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

He has been remanded to appear in court at a later date.
