Police charge man after laser pointed at Airwing

Police have charged a man after a laser was allegedly pointed at the police helicopter last night.

Members of the Air Wing directed ground crews to an address in Donat Court, Craigieburn after their aircraft was targeted about 9pm.

Units attended the address however a man allegedly fled the address on foot.

Police chased the man and the 36-year-old from Craigieburn was arrested on nearby Gillingham Court.

He has been charged with 18 charges, including endangering the safe operation of an aircraft, three counts of assault emergency services worker, reckless conduct, possess prohibited weapon and bail offences.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
