Police charge man after Lysterfield Lake assaults

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 27-year-old man following an attempted abduction at Lysterfield Lake on 18 June.

It is alleged a 36-year-old woman was on a walk through the Churchill National Park

when she was approached from behind by a man about 4.15pm.

The man allegedly grabbed her around the waist and put a hand over her mouth, attempting to drag her to the ground.

She managed to struggle free and ran from the area where she called triple zero.

It is alleged a second woman was also assaulted at the same location on the same day.

A Hampton Park man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual act and two counts of common law assault.

He will face Dandenong Magistrates' Court at a later date.
