Police charge man after Maffra fatal hit-run

Homicide Squad detectives have today charged a man following a fatal hit-run collision in Maffra earlier this month.

A 24-year-old man of no fixed place of address was arrested in Morwell earlier today following a public appeal for information on his whereabouts.

He was interviewed by police and has subsequently been charged with murder, three counts of theft of motor vehicle and two counts of theft.

The man will appear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

Today's arrest follows an incident on 5 February where a 36-year-old Maffra man was struck by allegedly stolen car on Morison Street about 3.30am.

He was taken to hospital however passed away as a result of his injuries.
