Police charge man after mail theft in Sydney's south

A man will face court today after multiple parcels were stolen from properties in Sydney's south.

Between Wednesday 9 December 2020 and Wednesday 6 January 2021, officers from South Sydney Police Area Command received reports of parcels being stolen from properties in Mascot, Zetland and Erskineville.

About 6.20pm (Saturday 9 January), a 47-year-old man attended Fairfield Police Station where he was arrested.

During a subsequent search of a unit on Crown Street, Fairfield East, about 1.10am today (Sunday 10 January 2021), police seized clothing, toys, and food.

The man was charged with 12 offences; nine counts of break and enter house, and three counts of steal property in dwelling-house.

Police will allege in court the man stole multiple packages from foyers and mail-delivery areas at properties across Sydney's south.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
