Police Charge Man After Melbourne CBD Sexual Assaults

Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives have charged a man after two women were sexually assaulted and raped in Melbourne's CBD this year.

The 36-year-old Melbourne man has been charged with five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

He was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 8 January 2026.

The charges relate to the sexual assaults of two 19-year-old women at separate licenced venues.

The first incident occurred at a venue on Victoria Street between 5.35am and 7am on Saturday, 9 August, while the second occurred at a venue on Smith Street in Collingwood between 12.30am and 3.15am on Friday 12th September.

The investigation remains ongoing.
