Police charge man after online approaches to teenagers

Armadale Detectives have charged a 61-year-old man after it is alleged he was seeking teenagers online.

A man in his 20s created a fake profile on a dating site purporting to be a 14-year-old boy.

It is alleged he was approached by a 61-year-old man and after exchanging sexually explicit messages for a time they arranged to meet at a public park in Kelmscott on Thursday, 22 October 2020.

When the meeting took place police were advised and they took the 61-year-old man into custody.

The 61-year-old man from Camillo was charged with 'Intent to Procure a Person believed to be under 16 years for Sexual Activity.

He is next due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on 3 November 2020.
