Police charge man after pedestrian hit - Enmore

A man has been charged after a pedestrian was critically injured following a crash in Sydney's Inner West overnight.

About 8.50pm yesterday (Saturday 26 November 2022), emergency services responded to reports a pedestrian had been hit on Marion Street at Enmore.

The vehicle – a Mazda hearse – allegedly left the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 61-year-old man at the scene. He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Shortly before 11pm, a 21-year-old man attended Newtown Police Station where he was placed under arrest.

Following inquiries, officers seized a vehicle from First Avenue, Five Dock, a short time later for mechanical and forensic examination.

The man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievously bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, not give particulars to injured person, and two counts of not give particulars to other driver.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 27 November 2022).
