A man has been charged following a 13-hour police operation in the Hunter region last week.
About 9.15am on Thursday 31 July 2025, officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District attended a home on Mayne Street, Murrurundi, to arrest a 42-year-old man following an investigation into an alleged domestic violence incident.
When the man – who was allegedly armed with a sword – refused to come out, a perimeter was established, and specialist officers were called to the scene.
About 10.30pm that day, the man exited the home; however, when he allegedly resisted arrest, tactical police deployed a Taser before he was taken into custody.
He was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station, before being taken to Maitland Hospital under police guard for assessment and treatment of facial injuries.
Police established a crime scene and searched the home, allegedly locating and seizing several items including firearm parts and ammunition.
Last night (Monday 4 August 2025), the man was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, two counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc, possess unauthorised firearm, and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Tuesday 5 August 2025).
