A man has faced court today, charged following a police operation in Dubbo last week.
About 6.45am Thursday 26 February 2026, emergency services were called to a business on Victoria Street, Dubbo, regarding a concern for welfare.
Upon arrival, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attempted to speak with a 20-year-old man.
The man, allegedly armed with what appeared to be a firearm, refused to exit the business.
Following a coordinated response from specialist officers, about 9.30am, the man exited the business and was arrested without further incident.
The man was uninjured and taken to hospital for assessment.
Following the arrest, police conducted a search of the building, locating and seizing an imitation firearm.
Yesterday (Monday 2 March 2026) following his release from hospital, the man was taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 4 today (Tuesday 3 March 2026), where he was granted conditional bail to face Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 15 April 2026.
