A man will face court today charged following a pursuit in the Hunter yesterday morning.
About 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 17 December 2025), police attempted to stop Toyota Landcruiser on Majors Lane at Sawyers Gully.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
Road spikes were deployed a short time later; however, the driver continued along Lovedale Road, Wine Country Drive and Lomas Lane.
The driver allegedly continued on towards Cessnock where the driver exited the vehicle on Alkira Avenue and entered bushland.
During a search of bushland and assistance from the Dog Unit, a 23-year-old man was arrested a short time later.
A search of the man allegedly revealed 1.1g of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, while a search of the vehicle alleged revealed stolen number plates.
The driver was taken to Cessnock Hospital for drug analysis before being taken to Cessnock Police Station.
There he was charged with eight offences,
- Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Attempt drive while under influence of drugs
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- Possess prohibited drug
- Possession of equipment for administering prohibited drugs
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Thursday 18 December 2025).
