Police charge man after pursuit - Northern Beaches

A man has been charged after with drink driving and other offences following a pursuit on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

About 7.50pm yesterday (Wednesday 19 June 2019), officers from North Shore Proactive Crime Team attempted to stop a Holden Commodore on Kentwell Road, Manly Vale, after observing the driver not wearing a seatbelt.

The car failed to stop and accelerated away from police. A pursuit was initiated which continued through Manly Vale and Balgowlah.

On Quirk Road, Balgowlah, the vehicle came to a stop and the driver ran into Manly West Park.

Police chased the man on foot and arrested him. During a search of the Commodore police located a bag of tools including pliers, a claw hammer and cutting shears.

The 39-year-old Milsons Point man was taken to Manly Police Station where he was submitted to a breath analysis, which allegedly returned a reading of 0.035.

The man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (2nd offence), drive whilst disqualified, use unregistered vehicle, negligent driving, special range PCA (2nd offence), refuse breath test, resist police, and possess housebreaking implements.

He was refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court today (Thursday 20 June 2019).
