Police Charge Man After Pursuit - Wahroonga

A man has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney's Upper North Shore.

About 12.30am today (Monday 29 April 2024), officers attached to Kuring-Gai Highway Patrol allegedly detected a vehicle travelling at 213km/h on the M1 Motorway, Wahroonga.

When the BMW failed to stop as directed by police, a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle continued along the M1 before it crashed into a concrete guard rail just before the Pennant Hills Road turnoff.

The driver and sole occupant – a 20-year-old man – sustained minor injuries; he was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a negative result.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Hornsby Hospital for observation.

The man has been issued a court attendance notice for police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive speed dangerous, and class A motor vehicle exceed speed limit over 45km/h.

He is due to appear at Hornsby Local Court on Thursday 30 May 2024.

His driver's licence was also suspended.
