Police Charge Man After Road Rage Assault - Burwood

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged road rage related assault in Sydney's west yesterday.

Police were told about 2:30pm (Wednesday 18 March 2026), a 39-year-old man was travelling west on the Hume Highway, Burwood, in a grey Mazda, when he attempted to change lanes; however, a white Honda CRV allegedly blocked him.

A short time later, the driver of the Honda has approached the Mazda at the intersection of the Hume Highway and the Boulevarde, Strathfield, and allegedly threatened the driver with a baseball bat, before returning to his vehicle.

The 39-year-old man told police he was struck by the other vehicle when he tried to get its registration. He suffered minor leg injuries.

Following an investigation by officers from Bankstown Police Area Command, about 1.30pm today (Thursday 19 March 2026), a 30-year-old man was arrested at Bourke Street, Alexandria.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with three offences - knowingly drive vehicle in manner menacing another, not give particulars

to other driver, and intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 13 April 2026.
