Police Charge Man After Road Rage Incident - Bass Hill

A man has been charged after allegedly striking several motorbike riders in Sydney's south west yesterday.

About 8.45pm (Friday 10 April 2026), police were called to a shopping centre car park in Bass Hill, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended and found a Holden sedan had crashed into a fire hydrant, with the driver leaving the scene prior to police arrival.

Police commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Following inquiries, police established the Holden sedan had allegedly struck a group of motorbike riders who were stationary at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Johnson Road, Bass Hill, about 8.30pm.

The driver left the scene but was allegedly assaulted at a nearby service station by several motorbike riders a short time later.

Following further inquiries, about 9am today (Saturday 11 April 2026), a 49-year-old man – who police will allege was the driver of the Holden - was arrested at unit on the Hume Highway, Bass Hill.

He was taken to Bankstown Hospital under police guard for treatment of injuries sustained during the alleged assault.

The 49-year-old man has been charged with predatory driving and not give particulars to owner of damaged property.

He remains under police guard in hospital and is due to appear before Bail Division Court 7 tomorrow (Sunday 12 April 2026).
