Police charge man after series of burglaries and fires in Melbourne's east

Detectives from Knox Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man following a series of alleged burglaries and suspicious fires in Melbourne's east overnight on Friday.

It is alleged the offences took place between 11.20pm on Thursday, 17 February and about 3.35am on Friday 18 February in Rowville, Wheelers Hill, and Mulgrave, including cash stolen from an aged care facility.

A 40-year-old Mount Waverley man was arrested and has been charged with nine offences, including aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, and criminal damage by fire (arson) charges.

He was remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 19 February.
