Police charge man after Shepparton shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following a shooting in Shepparton earlier this week.

A 36-year-old Shepparton man was arrested this afternoon and interviewed by police.

He has subsequently been charged with intentionally cause serious injury, prohibited person possess firearm, prohibited person use firearm, theft of motor vehicle, prohibited person possess imitation firearm and possess cartridge ammunition.

The man will be remanded to appear at the Shepparton Magistrates' Court tomorrow, 10 September.

The charges follow an incident on Tuesday, 7 September where a 31-year-old Mooroopna man presented to hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

He was subsequently airlifted to a Melbourne hospital with serious injuries.
