Police charge man after South Yarra assault

Police have charged a man following an alleged assault outside a licensed venue in South Yarra last month.

It is alleged the man approached a 22-year-old man on Wilson Street about 3.30am on 16 February.

After a brief verbal altercation, the man allegedly punched the male victim before fleeing the scene on foot.

The 43-year-old Box Hill man presented himself to police and has since been charged with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault, reckless conduct endangering life and reckless conduct endangering serious injury.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 2 June.
