Police charge man after stabbing at Queanbeyan

A man has been charged over the alleged stabbing of another man in the state's Monaro region.

Police were told about 8.30pm yesterday (Saturday 21 May 2022), a 40-year-old man was stabbed multiple times by a 42-year-old man known to him at a unit block on Lowe Street, Queanbeyan.

The younger man fled the scene and reported the incident at Queanbeyan Police Station.

He was taken to Queanbeyan Hospital for treatment to injuries to his neck, head and arms. He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Following inquiries, the older man was arrested on Jarrah Street about 12.05am (Sunday 22 May 2022).

He was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor facial injuries.

He was later charged with wounding with intent.

He was refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court via video link today (Sunday 22 May 2022).
