Police charge man after stabbing - South Tamworth

A man has been charged following a fatal stabbing in the state's northwest yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a unit block on Suzanne Street, South Tamworth, about 3.15pm (Sunday 18 June 2023), following reports a man had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, police located a 37-year-old man suffering a stab wound; despite efforts from police and NSW Ambulance paramedics, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, detectives attended a home on Cossa Street, South Tamworth, and arrested a 28-year-old man just before 10pm.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with murder.

The man was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday 20 June 2023
