Police Charge Man After Stabbing - South Tamworth 3 October

A man will face court charged after an alleged stabbing in the state's west.

About 10pm on Wednesday 1 October 2025, police were called to the intersection of Petra and Woodward Avenue, South Tamworth, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District responded and found a 43-year-old man with serious injuries to his upper body.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Tamworth Hospital before he was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Following inquiries, about 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday 2 October) police arrested a 45-year-old man at a home on Woodward Avenue, South Tamworth.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.

He was refused bail and will appear before Bail Division Court 5 today (Friday 3 October 2025).
