Police charge man after throwing Molotov cocktail - South Coast

A man has been charged after allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail during a neighbourhood dispute on the state's south coast.

About 8pm yesterday (Sunday 22 December 2019), a man rode a bicycle past a house in Greenwell Point and allegedly threw a lit container of accelerant into the front yard of a home.

The container exploded and set fire to the grass, before the flames extinguished themselves.

Officers from South Coast Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police have been told an altercation took place between the man and his neighbour earlier that afternoon.

About 11pm, police attended a home in Greenwell Point and arrested a 40-year-old man.

He was taken to Nowra Police Station, where he was charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, common assault and intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to face Nowra Local Court on Friday 10 January 2020.
