Police charge man after two vehicle crash - Milperra

A man has been charged in relation to a serious two vehicle crash in Sydney's south-west.

About 2am yesterday (Saturday 23 December 2023), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling Milperra Road when they observed a sedan driving westbound allegedly travelling approximately 140km/hr in a sign-posted 70km/hr zone.

Officers activated lights and sirens just as the sedan collided with a 4WD.

A 43-year-old woman, and three children – aged 10, 14, and 15 – were trapped inside the 4WD for a short time, before they were released and assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

All four were taken to hospitals in Westmead with serious injuries, however are not considered life-threatening.

Two male passengers of the sedan, both aged 18, were taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment in stable conditions.

The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old man, was also taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

About 9pm the driver of the sedan was taken from Liverpool Hospital to Bankstown Police Station and charged with 11 offences including:

  • Aggravated dangerous driving occasion GBH > 45km/h over the limit x 3
  • Dangerous driving occasion GBH – drive manner dangerous x 3
  • Negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm)
  • Cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle x 3
  • P1 driver 1 passenger

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today (Sunday 24 December 2023).

The man's licence has also been suspended.
