Police charge man and woman after bag snatch offences - Merrylands

A man and woman will face court, charged after two alleged robbery offences in Sydney's west last month.

About 5.30am on Monday 14 November 2022, police received reports a female had allegedly stolen the handbag of a 62-year-old woman who was inside a service station.

As she attempted to hold onto her bag, she was dragged a short distance and collided with a concrete bollard, sustaining minor injuries.

The female fled the scene in a gold-coloured Mazda.

About 3.45pm on Thursday 24 November 2022, police received reports that a 91-year-old woman who was waiting outside a bowling club on Merrylands Road, Merrylands, had her bag snatched by a man.

The woman was pushed to the ground and sustained minor injuries.

Following inquiries, officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command executed a search warrant at a home in Merrylands.

A 28-year-old man and a 39-year-old-woman were arrested and taken to Granville Police Station.

The man was charged with robbery and dishonestly obtain property by deception.

The woman was charged with robbery, dishonestly obtain property by deception, make/furnish a statement which is false/misleading and dispose of property.

They both appeared before Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 14 December 2022).
